V1 Verifier Award

This award is for qualified and experienced NVQ Assessors. This award enables you to be in the position where you will be supervising the work of other assessors and giving them guidance and support. You will be involved in internally verifying NVQ candidates' work and as a result you will become used to giving feedback to assessors about their decisions. The Internal Verifier award is the quality assurance link between the External Verifier and the Assessors.

The V1 Verifier Award is achieved by assembling a portfolio giving evidence of competence of working with and supporting assessors and demonstrating an understanding of the relevant NVQ.

Structure

The Structure of this award consists of the two units split into the following mandatory elements LIZ

• V1.1 Operate and evaluate internal assessment and quality assurance systems.
• V1.2 Support Assessors

• V1.3 Monitor the quality of assessor performance
• V1.4 Meet external quality assurance requirements.

Who is this award aimed at - LIZ

Any staff member who is occupationally competent and has been a qualified assessor for a minimum of one year. You will need to be responsible for a minimum of two assessors this involves supporting them, measuring the quality of their assessments and giving feedback. You also need to know and demonstrate what is involved when an external verifier visits.

Relationships to other awards

Progression into this award will be through the A1 Assessor award. The next step from an V1 Verifier Award could either be a mini award or the whole NVQ in Learning and Development, The V2 External Verifier Award or progression to a teacher training qualification such as City & Guilds 7407.
