Learning Styles

If you thought number one was best suited to you then you are an 'Activist'. You want to have a go at things and may get bored and move onto something else without taking time to consider what you have learnt. You will like to involve yourself in new experiences and enjoy being involved in activities. People who relate to this style relish coping with crises, are optimistic about anything new and are unlikely to resist change. Once the initial excitement is over they tend to bet bored with implementation and consolidation. They enjoy working with others but tend to do too much themselves and hog the limelight!

Number two relates to 'Reflectors' where you prefer to think about things first before taking any action. If you choose this then you are likely to collect all the facts and look at situations from all angles. You are careful and methodical and dislike reaching a conclusion until you have thought it through first. Reflectors prefer to take a back seat, observing and listening to others but often tend to be too cautious and not take enough risks.

If you chose number three then you are a 'Theorist' wanting to know what things mean. You approach situations logically, working through step-by-step, integrating your observations into complex theories. You tend to be a perfectionist and reject ideas that are not based on sound information. Theorists have a disciplined approach which restricts their ability to think creatively and they are unlikely to be prepared to 'give it a go' and see what happens.

Number four reflects a 'Pragmatist'. You will be a person who wants to know how theories relate to real life! Pragmatists are practical, businesslike individuals who like to get straight to the point. They are full of ideas and keen to try them out straight away. They are most comfortable with things that they know are going to work and tend to reject ideas without an obvious application. You may be impatient with what you see as waffle, beware of a tendency to seize on the first solution to a problem!

Could you relate to any of these? Try reading through this with a colleague and get their opinion - see if its the same as yours. Maybe by reading these styles you can recognise your manager, colleagues of family members styles!
